Key Deer Fawn

Key Deer Fawn, Big Pine Key, FL, Provia100F

These tiny deer are so much fun. I found a big field where about five deer were grazing. This baby was toying with me. She would run ahead of me as I followed slowly (on foot) with my camera. She would then turn and look at me and jump in a different direction and turn around and look at me again. Nature rocks.

Please, if you ever go there to photograph them, get out of your car. They are attracted to cars because lazy sightseers feed them from cars and they get hit. Get OUT of your car and walk with them. They’re tame like dogs and about the same size. You’ll find them hanging around houses and grazing in random fields. Please stay away from them with your car. There aren’t many left and they are so very precious.
