This bird has been the highest priority of my every day for the last 25 years. I speak to him in adult English and he speaks back — sometimes appropriately. He is only caged at night, for safety. He’s an excellent mimic and has nailed, perfectly, the first 15 notes of Dixie. My fondest memory of him is when he came running from the end of the couch to where I was sitting, he looked at me and said “you ok?” and waited for a second and said “you’re alright” and ran back to the other end of the couch. I was floored and laughing all at once. He’s an awesome lifelong companion and a frequent muse.
